BRIGHT SPARKS
If
you like taking things apart and finding out how they work then this course is
for you!
Whilst
we wouldn’t suggest that you ever try dismantling electronic equipment at
home, it is exactly what we propose to do this weekend!
We have all had fun at school experimenting with simple electronic
circuits, but if you take a look at the circuit board from a piece of equipment,
there are hundreds of strange devices and thousands of complex connections.
What do they all do?
The
course provides a unique opportunity to explore the
world of electronics and discover how different components interact with
each other. In our electronics
laboratory, we will be designing and building our own circuits to learn, for
example, how a transistor can act as an invisible switch or how a circuit board
can be made to count numbers all by itself and so gain an understanding of the
technology behind a television or pocket calculator.
In
a Presentation to Parents at the end of the course, students will be invited to
pass-on the knowledge they have gained and demonstrate their inventiveness.
